Wed. Mar. 3rd. Huatabompito

Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer, since August. 2006

Another nice sunrise to the left this morning, and 5 new rv's were here overnight. A group of 3 and 2 single  travellers all from Canada, Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. I chatted with some of them as they walked the beach and their dogs getting ready to hit the road by 8:30 a.m. heading back north.
We puttered around a bit, washed the car, then took a drive to the fishing village of Yavaros about 15 minutes away. A typical Mexican village with small adobe/stucco homes and shacks, animals roaming freely and a lot of fishermen at their boats cleaning and selling fresh fish and shrimp. A little further into the village we found a huge fish canning factory that probably employed the rest of the people. Besides the few restaurants and small grocery stores.
One thing that we have noticed everywhere in Mexico is that no matter where you are you can always buy Coca-Cola and beer!  Tecate, Modelo and Pacifico seem to be the main breweries here and they each set up their own small stores everywhere. Beer is also available in most stores  along with many varieties of Tequila and Mexican Brandy.
After here we took the short drive to the town Huatabompo again and found the Mercado Municipal (basically the farmers market and downtown shopping areas), Walking about the shops and vendors was interesting but we found that the meat vendors were done for the day at the market (I was looking for pork spare ribs). There is always an abundance of fresh seafood and chicken, but beef and pork are hard to come by in some areas. This is duly noted for future travels into Mexico.
Back home we had lunch then a walkabout and read for a while enjoying the view. Followed by supper of something we have not had for a long time, hot dogs and kraft dinner, a pastry for desert then a movie.
