Fri. Mar. 18th 2011 Abita Springs LA

Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer,
 since August 2006

Now were are settled into Abita Springs Rv Resort  on the the north shore of Lake Ponchartrain the weather is hot and humid and we love it. A walkabout the ponds this morning with beautiful scenery reflecting off the water makes it real nice. We have been here a few times in the past but its been over one and a half years. Some things have been improved and but a lot remains the same.

I went for a drive to the grocery store to check it out and pick up a few things (Winn Dixie) and stopped at the Tourist Info Centre, like we always do just to get lots of local information.

Back home to putter about a bit and a bite to eat. Them at 1:30 the six of us (Ron, Mary, Jon, Angelo, Suzie and myself) went to into town to check out the Abita Mystery House (UCM Museum) .
This a very interesting collection of stuff. I saw a sign inside somewhere that said it was a hobby that became and obsession.
Mystery House
And an interesting obsession, just to walk thru and look what someone has done to a collection of mostly junk is quite amazing, lots of interactive displays and signs to read. This is our second time here and still is worth the time for the price of admission only $3.00, we all got a AAA discount so only $2.50 each.

After this excursion we returned home to read in the shade for a while, then got together for a Margarita Happy hour, at Jon and Angelo's, to sum up our day and chat some more. While this was going on our supper was slowly cooking on the BBQ, tonight a cornish hen, potatoes and onions roasted in foil and peas. Then enjoy a bit of tv before crashing for the night.

You remember on Wednesday morning, I had a short encounter with some fire ants. The amazing thing with these fire ant bites is that they look brutal (3 days later) but don't itch or bother me at all and try to avoid breaking the blisters. It's really hard to believe such teeny, tiny ants can cause so much damage in not much more that a minute or two.
