Sat. Apr.16th, 2011, to Wapakoneta Ohio, its getting colder...

Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer,
 since August 2006

298 miles today (479 kms)
todays  journey
At Diamond Caverns Resort in Kentucky this morning, coffee, computing and a walkabout we are on the road at 8 am make some time today. Its getting cooler about 50f (10c) so I actually put on long pants, socks and shoes!! The first time in months, don't much like this cold weather or all, the extra clothes.
I-65 nice drive
We headed north on I-65 thru Louisville Kentucky, onto I-71 and hooked up with I-75 just south of Cincinnati, here we fueled up. Almost two days of driving with a good tail wind and the results are astonishing! We had a 20% increase in our gas mileage, so I guess the wind is alright as long as it is pushing you down the road and doesn't affect handling.
Cincinnati
We crested a hill and began our decent into and down thru the centre of Cincinnati, such an impressive view here. Notice the overcast skies we had all day.
Welcome to Ohio
One thing we notice in the United States is that we are frequently crossing state lines and there is always a huge Welcome sign there to greet us, kinda makes us feel special! We carried on stopped at a few rest areas, stretched our legs, made lunch and enjoyed the trip. By 2 pm we were at Wapakoneta Ohio, (Lakewood Village Resort) a long driving day for us, but we will sit here for probably 4 days, rest, relax and bit of last minute shopping. Yes its cold, but colder in Ontario, plus we have free wifi (not fast but free), full hook ups, a nice indoor pool and hot tubs not 50 feet from us for $10. a night, love the membership camping.
Lakewood Village Resort
indoor pool right there
We got hooked up and set up our satellite dish, turned on our electric heaters (save the propane) check email then decide on supper. Well with a Super Walmart just a block a way I picked up a fresh rotisserie chicken, potato salad, coleslaw and buns so for less the $10. we have enough food for two meals, nice and easy. And of coarse I made up some of our favorite Swiss Chalet dipping sauce (a tasty sauce only available in Canada or on line) for the chicken.
tasty quarter chicken
Now to relax a bit after supper computing reading and a bit of tv before turning in for the night. Let's see what tomorrow will bring.
